Camp Arnold at Timberlake

Challenge Course Program

Camp Arnold’s challenge course is a collection of games, initiatives, and elements assembled to present challenging activities for the purpose of individual and group growth.  Our challenge course experiences are purposefully designed as controlled risk experiences that unify groups of all ages in a unique outdoor setting to teach teamwork, develop leadership and have fun!

Low Challenge Course

Our low challenge course experiences begin with games.  Games bring groups together by creating a fun atmosphere where people can begin to trust one another.  We then introduce initiatives, or games with a purpose.  The purpose of initiatives is to challenge groups to work together in overcoming problems.  Initiatives are designed with your specific group in mind and facilitated to support your predetermined goals.  Finally we provide low ropes activities.  These are simply permanent initiatives that are installed throughout our forest property.  This collection of ropes, beams, and cables will require your group to apply the teamwork skills they have learned and further refine their unique success template.  All low challenge courses are customized for your unique group and facilitated to meet your predetermined goals.

High Challenge Course

The high challenge course challenges individuals within the context of group support.  All high challenge activities utilize harness, helmet, and belay systems to unsure maximum safety for your group.  We have several activities designed to challenge the individuals in your group to set their own goals and achieve them with the support of the group.  High challenge courses are often a “highlight” experience for groups.

Your group will learn through experience what makes them successful as a group and as an individual.  Both the low and high challenge courses are available as stand alone activities or can be combined for a full day or multi-day experience.  We facilitate each experience using the concept of “Appreciative Facilitation” that brings out the best in each individual and creates a success template for your group.  Since each group is different this success template is different for every group.  We will work with you to develop goals prior to your challenge course experience and will then “coach” your group towards those goals.  Previous groups have chosen to focus on one or more of the following:

  • Teamwork
  • Problem solving
  • Communication
  • Trust
  • Confidence
  • Encouragement
  • Self-awareness
  • Leadership development
