Retreats

orchard 2

In the shadow of Mount Rainier, Camp Arnold is surrounded by natural beauty -- 650 acres of evergreens, meadows, wetlands and the peaceful waters of our private lake.  Camp Arnold is about an hour and a half drive south of Seattle, forty five minutes from Tacoma and Olympia and thirty minutes from Puyallup, located in rural Pierce County making us an ideal retreat setting. Whether you are planning a series of intense meetings, a time for relaxation and some outdoor fun, a Team Building course or an Outdoor Education experience Camp Arnold can be an ideal setting for you.

Even though major amenities are only a few minutes away, the camps grounds offer an atmosphere of seclusion -- a get away from the daily routine and distractions.  Whether your needs are for a work retreat during the week, or a service club or church group retreat on the weekend, Camp Arnold is the place for you.  We can accommodate groups ranging in size from 35 people up to 350 people for overnight lodging, offer quality food services, and can prepare recreation, team building, and outdoor education experiences.

We have a quality staff to host your retreat or conference, and provide assistance in retreat planning.

Challenge Course Options

Team Building

Team Building consists of our facilitators taking your team through various initiatives and low elements that provide unique challenges for your group. Facilitators guide the group in a way that teaches safety, communication, problem solving and teamwork in a group setting.

Rock Wall

Our Rock Wall is 25’ high and has two separate climbs, both of which are marked with routes to give an extra challenge to the participant if desired. A facilitator works with the climbers in a way that teaches safety and basic climbing skills.

Giant Jump

After a participant is harnessed and clipped into belay rope they climb 25’ up to a platform in a tree and jump out to a bell suspended in front of them. The participant may move the bell closer or further away to allow them to choose their challenge. They are belayed by a group of their peers and a facilitator from the ground.

Giant Swing

A participant is harnessed and clipped into a steal cable and then hoisted into the air by the pulling power of their group. The participant may choose to go as high as they desire, up to 30’, and then tell the group on the ground to stop pulling. The participant then pulls a release lever and goes for a Giant Swing.

Zip Line

This element sits at about 25’ high and about 300’ long. One participant at a time gets clipped onto the zip line by a trained facilitator while the rest watch and cheer them on as they go sliding down the cable.

EACH OPTION WILL FILL A MINIMUM OF 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES.
AVAILABILITY OF OPTIONS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON GROUP SIZE.
PLEASE CONTACT THE DIRECTOR OF OUTDOOR EDUCATION FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Mt Rainier Scebuc Railroad (MRSR) - The longest continuously operating steam train railroad in the Pacific Northwest, the MRSR is the result of one man’s passion to preserve a colorful slice of America’s heritage.  As a young man Tom Murray, Jr. first heard the unforgettable sound of geared locomotives working on the steep wooded hillsides of his father’s timber holdings.  Mr. Murray was a hands-on witness to the closing days of steam locomotive logging in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.  He resolved to do whatever he could to save for posterity some of the relics of that unique and colorful experience. Visit: ttp://www.mrsr.com

Pioneer Farm - An hour and a half tour of Pioneer Farm Museum.  Your tour includes visiting two homestead cabins built in the 1880’s and learn about the families who built and lived in them. Do the chores that pioneer children would have done in our log activity cabin such as: grinding grains, churning cream, scrubbing laundry, and carding wool. You may dress up like pioneers, get you hair curled with a old curling iron and shave with a dulled straight razor.  Visit: http://www.pioneerfarmmuseum.org
